The Office of the Treasurer is established by the Constitution of Virginia. As a Constitutional Officer, the Treasurer performs certain fiscal duties for both the City of Bristol and the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Treasurer is elected every four years by the citizens of Bristol.
The scope of a Treasurer's responsibilities encompasses the collection of state and local tax levies. The Treasurer is also responsible for the safekeeping of the revenue, the appropriate accounting for and disbursement of the revenue.

Delinquent collection actions for REAL ESTATE and PERSONAL PROPERTY are currently in progress for tax year 2022 and prior years and may affect the payoff amount seen online.
Please call Taxing Authority Consulting Services, 804-545-2500 for an accurate payoff for 2022 and prior years delinquent tax.
Website balances for all delinquent Real Estate and Personal Property accounts for 2022 and prior years do not include collection attorney fees.

TACS accounts receivable/accounts payable process takes two weeks.
All Personal Property taxes must be paid in full before a Division of Motor Vehicle license stop may be released. Please provide your TACS payment confirmation number to the Treasurer’s office so we may verify your TACS payment.
For urgent DMV stop releases, please pay by cash, check or money order.

Paymentus, the service provider, charges a Convenience Fee of 2.39% for this service. Payments take 2-3 business days to post to taxpayer accounts.
