Code Enforcement/Property Maintenance

Mission

The Code Enforcement Office is composed of a trained officer who uses a hometown community approach and, in doing so, creates strong bonds with our City of Bristol residents and visitors. The goal is strengthening community outreach and gaining voluntary compliance through education on City ordinances. Our Enforcement Office performs various technical duties in support of the City's local code enforcement program. Bristol's Code Enforcement Officer monitors and enforces various applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, land use, building codes, public nuisance, short and long-term rentals, health and safety, blight, and other matters of public concern. They provide information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public, and other City departments and divisions. In addition to responsibilities about Code Enforcement, the office identifies and solves problems, establishes goals, and defines strategies within the community.
