Landfill Notifications and Information

Construction on Phase 2 of the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System (SOMS) progressed this week. The lower horizontal collector trench along the southern and eastern quarry landfill walls was excavated. Pipe was placed in the newly excavated trench and covered with rock along the south wall and southeastern corner of the quarry. Sump #3 (a low point in the SOMS piping used to collect any built up condensate and/or leachate) was installed along the southern wall. Adverse weather caused some minor delays, as it has made some areas less accessible due to precipitation and mud. Upcoming construction efforts on Phase 2 are focused on excavating and installing a lower horizontal perimeter gas collection perforated pipe along the lower rim of the quarry.
