As of December 9, Connelly & Associates has completed all nine (9) borehole drillings in relation to the installation of the thermocouple system at the quarry landfill. The probes in each well have been set at 165 feet, 155 feet, 218 feet, 200 feet, 202 feet, 208 feet, 222 feet, 233 feet, and 205 feet respectively. Connelly & Associates will begin the installation of both the bollards and thermistors on Monday, December 12.

On Tuesday, December 6, City Council approved two contracts, totaling more than $12 million, for ongoing work at the quarry landfill. The first approved contract is for Phase(s) One and Two of the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System. The second approved contract deals with operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the quarry landfill’s existing gas collection system. SCS Field Services was awarded both contracts and submitted the only bid received for each project.

Phase One of the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System is for 222 feet of work to test for effectiveness of the project’s design. Phase One is expected to be complete by December 31, 2022. SCS Field Services will be on site at the quarry landfill Monday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 13 to finalize safety measures related to the project. Work on Phase One is anticipated to begin later in the week.

The City will continue to provide public updates on the important progress at the quarry landfill as construction begins on the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System.
