Do you rent dumpsters?: No. However if you are a fee paying resident, the Public Works Department of the City of Bristol, Virginia offers loaner cans for special occasions or extra trash during clean up. The Collection Division will loan up to one (1) can for two weeks, based upon availability, by calling 276-645-7380.

1. What does the ORANGE TAG mean?: You have violated a city code. There is NO civil fee associated with this Notice of Violation. *1st Violation - Material will be picked up and removed by City for no fee. *2nd Violation - Material will NOT be picked up. Material may be picked up by City for a nominal fee. *3rd Violation - Owner is notified of continuous violations, and code enforcement process will begin.

2. What does my $33 fee cover?: The $33.00 fee covers weekly pickup of your trash can, brush, grass, leaves, furniture, appliances, four tires (rimless), and large items that will not fit in your can. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.

3. What is the charge for a second garbage can?: $16.50/month for the second container payable with the utility bill. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.

4. May I have extra garbage cans if I am cleaning out my basement or garage?: We can loan you one can free of charge, for two weeks, four times each year. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.

5. Why is the extra trash lying at the curb not being picked up?: We do not pick up non-containerized waste. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.

6. I am tearing down an old building - can I put the debris at the curb for pick up?: No. We do not pick up on oversize bulk wood and debris. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.

8. The box you tagged me for is too large to put in the can. What can I do with it?: We encourage you to recycle at one of our free blue cardboard recycling containers. Locations are on the back of the orange tag. For more details, please call (276) 645-7380.
