Do I need a building permit to construct a driveway or parking lot?
No, a building permit is not required for the construction driveways or parking lots. However, an entrance permit is required to be obtained from the city engineer's office prior to beginning construction of a new entrance off of the city right of way.

If the disturbed area of a driveway or parking lot exceeds 10,000 square feet, an Erosion and Sediment Plan, Site Plan, and Land Disturbing Permit may be required by the city engineer. The city engineer's office may be reached at (276) 645-7363.
