William Lester is currently a Pavement Design & Evaluation Engineer at the Virginia Department of Transportation. A lifelong resident of Bristol, William graduated from Virginia High School in 1985. After High School he attended Virginia Highlands Community College where he obtained AAS Degrees in both Electronics and General Engineering. He then worked a short time at HBA Cast Products before going to East Tennessee State University, where he graduated with a BS in Construction Engineering Technology in 1992. He began his career at VDOT in 1993 and during his time there did a distance learning program through the Southwest Virginia Higher Ed Center and George Mason University where he received his MS in Transportation Policy in 2002 and later became a Virginia licensed Professional Engineer in 2005.
William also has served on the General Engineering Technology Advisory Committee at VHCC and Electricity Advisory Committee at VHS.
He is married to Marcie and has three amazing step children – Jessica, Matthew and Barry.
